I moved to Florida with the goal of starting my own title company. Little did I know, something even better was in store for me.
When I turned 18, I was eager to jump into a full-time job and gain independence. I started working at a title company, doing title searches alongside my mom. We worked closely with real estate attorneys, though at the time, I didn’t realize it was my first step into the world of real estate—I was simply excited to work.
Seeking sunshine and a fresh start, I moved to San Diego and spent a couple of years working for a mortgage lender. I learned every detail of the mortgage application process, from assessing credit histories to understanding tax returns and document requirements. It gave me a solid foundation in the mechanics of real estate transactions.
With dreams of owning my own title company, I saved up and moved to Florida, where my mom joined me for the adventure. I worked as a contractor for top title insurance companies in Orlando, handling the insurance portion of real estate transactions. It was another layer of training that prepared me for what was to come. Eventually, I managed a local title company and achieved my goal of getting my title insurance license. Business was booming! We were closing deals left and right, sometimes multiple in a single day –– right before the market crashed.

Suddenly, everything changed. People weren’t buying homes, and many couldn’t afford their mortgages. The downturn hit hard, and I was laid off. Despite the tough economic conditions, I decided to take a leap of faith and open my own title company. It had always been my dream, and I already had strong relationships with several real estate agents. That said, it was a stressful experience. Sellers were underwater, and every deal required a monumental effort.
Around that time, I met Jeremiah. It was an unusual meeting—he originally had plans to meet my sister, who was new to Florida and making friends. She told me about her plan to meet this stranger, and as her protective older sister, I insisted on tagging along. Jeremiah and I ended up hitting it off, and the rest is history—we got married and started a family together.

While my love life flourished, my dream of owning a title company had turned into a nightmare. I had employees I couldn’t afford, mounting stress, and financial struggles. I couldn’t pay my mortgage and ended up selling my house for less than I’d bought it. I was also pregnant with our first child, America, and living paycheck to paycheck. One day, Jeremiah came home to find me curled up in bed, in a fetal position, overwhelmed. It was clear: I needed to close the company.
I communicated the tough choice to my employees and clients, including Dave Larew, a top-producing real estate agent. He surprised me by asking if I’d like to join him as a real estate agent. It turned out to be a blessing, for I love meeting new people, and the job suited me well. Dave became my mentor, teaching me everything from handling contract issues to being responsive and respecting clients’ time. In my first year, I joined the President’s Club and fell in love with my new career.
Today, life is more balanced. I cherish spending time with my children, America and Justice, who are now teenagers. We love to travel and have explored places like London, Italy, Spain, and Brazil. For fun, I enjoy shopping, relaxing at the spa, and sipping wine with friends. I also volunteer at my church during the holidays, raising money for charities, packing care packages for the homeless, and helping families in need.
Looking back, my journey into real estate was shaped by a variety of related jobs that transformed me into a well-rounded REALTOR® with plenty of knowledge in all areas related to buying or selling a home.
